Purpose of the role

You are a forward thinking .Net Developer with a intelligent approach to creating brilliant solutions experiences. Working directly for the Creative Director within an exciting and expanding team, you will work alongside other digital developers and creative technologists, developing innovative solutions,­­ websites, mobile applications and e-campaigns that surprise and delight users, exploiting cutting edge development techniques and methods.

You will live and breathe development and will be able to demonstrate your ability to not only create complex solutions, but also understand how to architect development solutions that uphold the initial vision and delivers business benefit.

Key responsibilities and tasks

Development responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Creative Director and other developers to maintain and evolve the development standards of the agency
  • Considers development beyond the brief, and extends it to include commercial aspects and business value considerations
  • Articulates the reasons for evolvement of the development brief and how to improve the product beyond the brief
  • Demonstrates high levels of attention to detail and standards of accuracy in all code deliverables
  • Maintains and improves working knowledge of key development languages
  • Stays on the cutting edge, keeping up to date with new techniques and technologies, with a desire to learn and experiment
  • Develops design and UX knowledge to a sufficient standard, collaborating with other delivery functions
  • Develops and progresses opportunities to diversify the development product portfolio, highlighting opportunities to expand the agency capability set
  • Ensures best practice, experience and knowledge of best practices for development standards is adopted
  • Shows a clear adoption and development of latest techniques, offering exploratory solutions to development requirements
  • Develops a good ideology for managing maintainable, scalable solutions and blueprint products (re-usable assets)

Agency / client communication

  • Maintains regular day-to-day contact with key internal stakeholders to manage their expectations
  • Works to ensure clear communication with internal and external contacts through the most appropriate method

Budget and commercial management

  • Inspires others to deliver their tasks to schedule and inside budgeted time
  • Raises delivery time scale concerns as soon as possible to limit damage to the project and allocated time budget
  • Tracks the marketplace to highlight any currently unseen commercial opportunities, escalating where appropriate

Team management and leadership

  • Encourages and inspires excellence in development and design teams
  • Motivates colleagues to work together in the most efficient manner including Project Management and Client Services
  • Actively challenges the status quo looking for ways to improve solutions recommended across teams
  • Consistently acknowledges and appreciates each team member's contribution
  • Records and shares lessons learned with team members to facilitate continuous improvement

Office Administration

  • Ensures development architecture is always current and repositories are set up and maintained correctly
  • Accurately completes timesheets by the end of each week, and includes any information that is pertinent to the tracking of projects
  • Maintains all software to current version, escalating awareness of new software if necessary to complete tasks, as soon as possible.

Client relationships and new business opportunities

  • Demonstrates an understanding of clients’ businesses and the context of their projects
  • Identifies additional opportunities as they relate to a specific project or client
  • Continually seeks opportunities to improve delivery against customer requirements
  • Be mindful of wider agency and client objectives and work with all areas of the business to deliver against them

General

  • Works closely with line manager to maximise own strengths, improve weaknesses and support individual and team career development
  • Maintains a good understanding of technologies, web development technologies and best practices and creative trends
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of LEWIS’ production capabilities
  • Maintains awareness of new and emerging trends and technologies and their potential within client projects
  • Runs and supports training sessions, with a view to maximising opportunities to expand team skills and grow revenues
  • Takes a proactive role in promoting the LEWIS brand, its work, identity and values
  • Supports the HR / talent team by promoting both internal and external opportunities at LEWIS across social media and via the referral scheme
  • Contributes and supports the continuous improvement of LEWIS systems, practices and policies
  • Regularly attends LEWIS training sessions and daily press briefings to enhance skills and develop knowledge
  • Be a positive voice for the agency, seeking to solve problems in proactive, collaborative and non-confrontational way 

About you

  • 5 years C# / ASP.Net Development experience (MVC)
  • 3 Years Sitecore CMS Development Experience or 3 Years Sitefinity CMS Development Experience
  • Currently working on Sitecore Version 7+
  • Microsoft SQL 2008+
  • 2 years digital agency experience
  • Fully competent across Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Development methodologies both Agile and Waterfall
  • A sound level of sys admin knowledge and server management including hosting architectures
  • and IIS
  • An understanding of ‘front end’ - HTML, CSS, jQuery
  • A quick learner and forward thinking
  • A proactive approach and an ability to work independently
  • Must have strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Fluent English Speaker
  • A well-rounded understanding of modern web technologies
  • Experience of delivering technically sophisticated / complex creative solutions – demonstrable ability to talk the talk with clients, suppliers and business stakeholders
  • Well organised, detail driven and results orientated
  • Must be flexible to travel to London for one day each month
